Experience the beauty and history of Cape Town, the oldest city in South Africa

Take the cableway to the summit of Table Mountain (1008m above sea level), one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Enjoy the views from the top of the mountain, from where on a clear day you can see the entire peninsula and the city below. We normally spend about an hour and a half before descending to take a leisurely drive through the city.

Drive past or visit The Castle (fort), District Six and the museum, the Slave Lodge, Houses of Parliament, The Company’s Garden, St Georges Cathedral, Greenmarket Square, City Hall, the flower sellers on Adderley Street and Long Street with all it’s interesting shops, restaurants and historical buildings. There are many photo opportunities along the way.

Then we go to Bo-Kaap, or Malay Quarter, once occupied by slaves after the abolishment of slavery in the 1840’s. Today with its brightly painted houses, Bo- Kaap is one of the most photographed areas of Cape Town and is a must visit.

Drive along the Atlantic Seaboard towards Hout Bay passing Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay with the Twelve Apostle mountains.

Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the world’s great ocean drives. Constructed with prisoner labour from 1915 to 1922, it hugs the cliffs high above the ocean for nine kilometres and 110 curves, before descending into an area known as Noordhoek with its famous 7 kilometre-long beach. Along the route we stop for many photo opportunities.

Return to the city via Ou Kaapse Weg (Old Cape Road) passing the original wine region of Constantia, home to Groot and Klein Constantia (1682) with some of the best wines on offer. We recommend taking in a wine-tasting before dropping you back in the city.

From your accommodation, within 5 kilometres of the city-centre at 08h00 and returning by 17h00.

Comfortable shoes, a hat or cap, sunscreen especially in the summer months, a warm top in winter, your camera and a lot of fun.

A private tour for between 2 and 6 guests, in an airconditioned car or minivan. There is a fair amount of walking on fairly level constructed pathways on the mountain. In the city and Bo-Kaap we walk in the streets in safety.

Cape Town experiences some of the best weather anywhere with the summer months of October to April generally the best time to visit. February is normally the hottest month with July and August being the coldest.

With its Mediterranean climate the Cape Town winter months of June to September are the wettest whilst summer is dry and temperate.

Cape Town is the second largest city in South Africa, and like any large city it has certain areas which can be deemed unsafe. However, it is generally safe to walk around the city centre during the day and most tourist locations in the city and surrounds are perfectly safe for travel. We would never take our guests anywhere where safety and security are compromised.

No, Cape Town has no restrictions and has many superb health-care facilities should the need arise.

Yes, most banks have facilities and all ATM’s accept foreign Credit Cards. The South African currency is Rand (ZAR) and cents.

Our water is perfectly safe to drink.

Yes, you can. All major stores and most restaurants accept Visa and Mastercard. Some do not accept American Express and Diners. Do not hand your card to the vendor. In a restaurant let the waitron bring the credit card machine to you.

It is not customary, but whilst discretionary, tips (gratuities) are generally paid for good service and greatly appreciated. Tips generally range from 10 to 15% depending on the level of service.
